On the 20th, the county announced that the construction of a 5km bicycle road section from Daegwan Bridge in Danseong-myeon, the border area with Jinju City, to the entrance of Sawol-ri in Danseong-myeon has been completed.
The county invested 1.6 billion KRW in this section to build a bicycle road along the riverside embankments of Daegwan Bridge and Sonam-ri.
This section connects with the 8km bicycle path from the Bronze Age Museum in Daepyeong-myeon to Omi Village, which was promoted and established by Jinju City.
Sancheong-gun’s ‘Gyeonghogang 100-ri Trail’ project spans a total length of 46km and is designed as a path where travelers can enjoy bicycling and walking while viewing the Gyeonghogang River, renowned as one of the most scenic spots in the Jirisan area.
The project involves constructing a bicycle and pedestrian road starting from Daegwan Bridge in Gwanjeong-ri, Danseong-myeon, in the southern part of Sancheong-gun, following the Gyeonghogang River upstream, passing through Seongsimwon and Sancheong-eup downtown, and continuing to Jusang Village in Geumseo-myeon located above Donguibogam Village.
The county expects that upon completion of the project by the end of this year, it will be possible to expand the infrastructure of the ‘bicycle city’ Jinju and the demand for bicycle leisure travel in western Gyeongnam to the Sancheong area in the Jirisan region. It is also anticipated to benefit the local economy alongside the influx of bicycle and walking travelers.
This is expected to create a synergy effect with Jinju City’s Jinyangho Circular Bicycle Road Project (total length 50km), which is being promoted with a target completion in 2022.
Sancheong-gun estimates that approximately 5.5 billion KRW will be required for the entire ‘Gyeonghogang 100-ri Bicycle and Walking Trail Project.’
The construction project will proceed by installing bicycle safety facilities on existing roads, utilizing planned roads such as embankment roads, and installing deck roads.
