Following the Ecological Exchange International Organization, International Exchanges Such as the East Asia Cultural City Project Also Conducted Remotely
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City (Mayor Heo Seok) announced on the 20th that it held an international organization New Year's meeting via video the day before to promote inter-Korean ecological and economic exchanges.
This meeting, held two months after the international organization meeting at the end of October last year, was attended by Mayor Heo Seok of Suncheon, representatives from the East Asia Ramsar Regional Center, the Hans Seidel Foundation Korea Office, the East Asia?Oceania Flyway Partnership, and the International Crane Foundation.
Amid global restrictions on physical movement due to COVID-19, participants in this video meeting showed great interest in Suncheon City's 3E (Ecology, Education, Economy) project and actively supported the inter-Korean ecological exchange cooperation project, the ‘Rumi Skyway Connection Project,’ expressing their willingness to participate.
Suncheon City plans to hold a working-level video conference in the future to divide roles among organizations and form a joint promotion team to discuss cooperation measures for the success of this project.
Additionally, on the 28th of next month, a non-face-to-face international symposium on cranes of the Korean Peninsula will be held to commemorate Black-necked Crane Day.
Mayor Heo Seok of Suncheon said, “This project was planned to break down barriers between people and nations and deliver a message of peace, like the Black-necked Cranes that fly across the sky without borders and travel the earth.” He added, “In particular, I hope the Black-necked Cranes, which connect the skies of South Korea and North Korea?the only divided country in the world?will become Suncheon’s peace messengers.”
