View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] The number of new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in South Korea reached 386 on the 19th. This marks the second consecutive day with cases in the 300s, following 389 cases the previous day.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) reported that as of midnight, 386 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed domestically, bringing the total to 73,115. Of the new cases, 351 were locally transmitted and 35 were imported.
The trend of new domestic COVID-19 cases has been declining since peaking at the end of last month. The number of new cases, which was in the 1,000s at the end of last month, dropped to the 500s by mid-month and has remained in the 300s since the 18th.
Among the locally transmitted cases on this day, 95 were reported in Seoul, 128 in Gyeonggi, and 18 in Incheon, totaling 241 cases in the metropolitan area. Cases were also reported in all 14 other provinces, with 17 in Busan, 16 in Gangwon, 15 in Daegu, 11 in Gyeongnam, 8 in Gyeongbuk, 7 each in Gwangju, Daejeon, and Chungnam, 6 in Jeonnam, 5 each in Chungbuk and Ulsan, 3 in Sejong, 2 in Jeonbuk, and 1 in Jeju.
There were 35 imported cases, of which 8 were detected during quarantine and 27 were confirmed in the community. Among them, 18 were Korean nationals and 17 were foreigners.
The death toll increased by 19 from the previous day, reaching a cumulative total of 1,283. Among hospitalized patients, the number of critically ill patients decreased by 8 to 335 compared to the previous day. The number of patients who have recovered and been released from isolation rose by 745 to 59,468.

On the previous day, 53,106 diagnostic tests were conducted on suspected cases. At temporary screening clinics set up in the metropolitan area, 19,596 tests were performed, confirming 49 new cases.
