Previously, soldiers had to take leave and visit a dealership in person to submit proof documents.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Military Manpower Administration, KT, and SKT announced on the 11th that they will start a simple application service that allows mobile military service certificates to be issued and submitted through telecom company apps.
From the 12th, soldiers who wish to subscribe to KT's military discount plan can verify their identity on the KT app and issue and submit a mobile military service certificate by phone through the customer center without visiting a dealership. SKT will also provide a service from the 15th that allows subscribers to easily issue and submit electronic military service certificates via the SKT app through the customer center when applying for long-term suspension of mobile phone service due to military enlistment.
Until now, active-duty soldiers had to print proof documents such as enlistment confirmation or enlistment notice from Government24 and submit them in person at dealerships to apply for military discount plans for mobile phones.
To resolve this inconvenience, the Military Manpower Administration revised related regulations and improved the system so that active-duty soldiers can also issue military service certificates, which were previously only available after discharge, supporting a one-stop service using electronic certificates.
