Lotte Mart Sees 42% Increase in Lunar New Year Gift Set Preorders... Red Ginseng and Wine Popular
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Lotte Mart's reservation sales performance for the 2021 Lunar New Year gift sets over a fifteen-day period from December 24 to January 7 showed a 42.6% increase compared to the previous year.
Due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, demand for health functional foods increased by 78.7%, driving overall pre-order sales growth. In particular, sales of red ginseng-related sets, a representative product of health functional foods, surged significantly by 349.9%.
Additionally, sales of liquor gift sets centered on whiskey and wine also stood out, increasing by 84.9% and 104.7%, respectively. Whiskey and wine have been continuously growing categories since last year, with wine sales growing 53.4% in 2020.
Sales of fruit gift sets, including apples and pears, rose 98.4% compared to the previous year. This growth is attributed to demand for pre-purchasing apples and pears, which are expected to see significant price increases due to production shortages.
Meanwhile, Lotte Mart is conducting pre-order sales of 2021 Lunar New Year gift sets at all stores until February 1, offering fresh, processed, and household products at discounted prices.
During the pre-order period, L.POINT members and customers purchasing gift sets with promotional cards can receive discounts of up to 30% off the regular price.
Moreover, customers purchasing above a certain quantity can receive a free additional item, and those using specific cards can get gift certificates worth up to 1.5 million KRW or instant discounts depending on the purchase amount. Free nationwide delivery is also available for purchases over 30,000 KRW.
