The police announced on the 9th that the child's biological mother, Ms. A, has been booked and is under investigation for abandonment and neglect under the Child Welfare Act.
Additionally, the police are investigating based on statements from nearby residents who reported that Ms. B was crying outside the house last month, along with inquiries of the reporter Mr. C and witnesses.
According to the police, Ms. B, the daughter of Ms. A, was found by passerby Mr. C around 5:40 p.m. the previous day about 100 meters from her home, wearing only thermal underwear.
After discovering Ms. B, Mr. C wrapped her in his own clothes and took her into a convenience store in Gangbuk-gu. According to Mr. C, the child's pants were wet with urine and feces.
At that time, Ms. B reportedly said to Mr. C, "Please help me." It was understood that she had been hungry all day.
According to the police investigation, Ms. B was alone at home for about nine hours after her mother, Ms. A, left for work in the morning, and she briefly went outside but could not get back in because the door was locked.
The police who inspected the child's home reported that it was a pile of trash and uncleaned. The child's mother explained, "There was a misunderstanding because I was gathering the trash to throw it away."
