The Changwon District Court, 2nd Criminal Division (Chief Judge Lee Jeong-hyun) announced on the 10th that A (51), who was tried on charges of attempted murder and trespassing for attempting to kill the mother of his common-law wife, B (67), was sentenced to 7 years in prison.
On August 6 last year, A visited B's house and wielded a weapon because his common-law wife had not come home. As a result, B and one of B's acquaintances were injured.
B testified that despite being injured, she held onto A to prevent further harm to the six acquaintances who were with her at the time.
About 10 days before the incident, A had also trespassed into B's house without permission for the same reason, threatening her with insults such as "I haven't eaten for three days."

The court stated, "The method of the crime was very brutal, and the victim could have lost her life due to excessive bleeding," adding, "The sentence was determined considering that the victims did not wish for severe punishment against the defendant."
