[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters (Jeju) Reporter Park Chang-won] In Jeju, the average daily number of new confirmed cases over the past week dropped from 7.8 on the 8th (55 cases from January 1 to 7) to 6.7 as of midnight on the 9th (47 cases from January 2 to 8).
The Jeju Special Self-Governing Province announced that 560 diagnostic tests were conducted on the 8th, and among them, 5 people (Jeju #477?481) were confirmed positive for COVID-19.
This is the third time since December 10 and December 28 that 5 confirmed cases have been reported in Jeju in a single day.
After 5 p.m. on the 8th, an additional 3 people (479, 480, 481) were confirmed positive, and there were no additional confirmed cases from midnight to 11 a.m. on the 9th.
Accordingly, the total cumulative confirmed cases in the province as of midnight on the 9th were counted at 481.
Since the beginning of this year, the number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in Jeju is 60, and the occurrence of fewer than 10 new confirmed cases per day has been maintained for 7 consecutive days.
The 5 additional confirmed cases on the 8th were all identified as contacts of confirmed cases in the Jeju area.
Also, on the 8th, a total of 18 discharges and 6 admissions were made, including the first 11 patients admitted to the residential treatment center.
There are 36 patients hospitalized at Jeju National University Hospital, 26 at Seogwipo Medical Center, and 31 at Jeju Medical Center, totaling 93 hospitalized patients in Jeju, which is below 100.
