[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Seong) is making every effort to minimize damage to residents caused by heavy snowfall through snow removal operations.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration's forecast (6th, 12:50 PM) predicting up to 8cm of snow in the Seoul area, Guro-gu preemptively spread de-icing agents throughout the district using vehicles two hours before the snowfall began.
As heavy snow started falling around the evening rush hour on the 6th, the emergency snow removal operation level was raised to Level 2 at 9 PM. Immediately, a total of about 760 personnel, including half of the district and neighborhood office staff, mobile teams, and sanitation workers, were deployed to carry out snow removal work.
On the morning of the 7th, the remaining half of the staff went out to continue the snow removal operations. A total of 42 snow removal vehicles, including Unimogs, dump trucks, excavators, and loaders, were mobilized to spread de-icing agents such as calcium chloride in various hazardous areas.
