Recruitment of Participating Institutions for 'Visiting Invention Experience Classroom' in Remote Mountainous and Island Areas
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) announced on the 7th that it is recruiting institutions to participate in this year's "Visiting Invention Experience Classroom."
The Invention Experience Classroom is a program that provides experiential education for youth by visiting institutions in relatively hard-to-reach areas such as islands, remote regions, and isolated islands.
The recruitment period is until the 19th of next month. Selected institutions will conduct the program at the institution level in island and remote area schools, rural schools, local children's centers, orphanages, and more. The educational courses, including curriculum-linked, after-school education, and invention camp types, will be operated by each institution until the end of the year.
Each institution will provide youth with experiential and hands-on invention education such as inventions in augmented and virtual reality, imagining and inventing future robots, and becoming familiar with inventions through Arduino and woodworking.
KIPO plans to also adopt a non-face-to-face method where educational materials are first delivered and then education is conducted online if visiting education becomes difficult due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
Last year, the Visiting Invention Experience Classroom was conducted (completed) for 13,062 participants at 567 locations nationwide, including island and remote schools and local children's centers.
Participation was particularly notable in Jeonnam (72 sessions), Gyeongnam (69 sessions), and Gyeongbuk (55 sessions), regions with many island and remote schools, with 93.4% of participating students expressing satisfaction.
Further details about the Visiting Invention Experience Classroom can be found on the Invention Education Portal site. Inquiries can be made through the Creative Invention Education Research Office of the Korea Invention Promotion Association.
