Since the beginning of the 7th local government term, the county has been strongly promoting the activation of green energy supply under the Green New Deal, one of the 10 representative tasks of the Korean New Deal, as a pledge and key project.
This year, all 12 projects, including the New Renewable Energy Convergence Support Project, Public Institution Regional Support Project, and Regional Energy Saving Project, which are public contests by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, were selected with a total project cost of 8.4 billion KRW.
In addition, through securing various national and provincial subsidy projects, the county discovers and supports 100 households annually for solar power housing supply, mini solar power supply for apartment complexes, and LED lighting housing supply.
Solar power self-generation facilities have been installed in 350 senior citizen centers, contributing to energy welfare such as reducing electricity bills for residents.
By constructing and supporting the operation of eight village community profit-type solar power plants with a total capacity of 355 kW, joint profits for residents are being created.
Gu In-mo, the mayor of Geochang-gun, said, “Our county has always been a model for other cities and counties by early achieving the government’s energy self-sufficiency rate 3020 goal (20% by 2030) ten years ahead of schedule last year through the activation of various green energy supplies for residents and the expansion of new renewable energy supply in public buildings.”
