Greeting the New Year with a Morning Broadcast Instead of the 2021 Opening Ceremony While Observing Social Distancing... Surprise Snack Event Held to Encourage Employees Responding to COVID-19 and Emphasize Communication with Residents
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) started work by emphasizing communication and cooperation with employees and residents through an internal morning broadcast without a separate opening ceremony to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the New Year of the Year of the Ox.
Mayor Park Jun-hee of Gwanak-gu delivered New Year's greetings to employees and residents via a 10-minute morning broadcast starting at 9 a.m. on the 4th, in order to comply with quarantine rules following the extension of social distancing level 2.5 and to ensure the health and safety of employees.
The broadcast began with a message of gratitude to employees who have devoted themselves to quarantine duties beyond their original responsibilities, such as facility inspections, operating screening clinics, and living treatment centers amid COVID-19, and a surprise snack event was held to encourage employees who have made great efforts in responding to COVID-19.
The snack event involved department heads and dong (neighborhood) chiefs participating by sending New Year's greetings via the mayor's electronic approval email during the morning broadcast. The 1st, 10th, 20th, 30th, 40th, and 50th emails received were selected, and four departments and two dong community centers received snacks.
Mayor Park said, “Last year, through attracting external funds such as public contest projects, we opened the era of a 1 trillion won budget for the first time in Gwanak-gu's history, and achieved various awards in fields such as the Prime Minister's Award at the Korea Knowledge Awards, the Local Government Productivity Award, and the Regional Social Security Plan Implementation Result Award,” adding, “This was all thanks to the passionate dedication and efforts of our employees.”
He also stated, “2021 is an important year marking the third year of the 7th local government term, and it is the year we must create a happy and united top-tier Gwanak,” promising, “I will not lose my initial resolve and will work even harder for the residents.”
Furthermore, he concluded the broadcast by urging, “In the Year of the Ox, each employee working on the front lines must do their best for national quarantine, and each resident must actively participate in personal quarantine to overcome COVID-19. Although we are going through a frustrating and difficult time, let us not lose hope and welcome the New Year with new determination and resolve.”
Meanwhile, on the 1st, Mayor Park visited the Gwanak-gu Public Health Center screening clinic, Nakseongdae temporary screening clinic, Sillim screening clinic, and living treatment center to encourage employees who are dedicated to testing support work even during the holiday period.
