KOTRA Opens Door to Australian Market with 'Open Shop'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] KOTRA is assisting small and medium-sized enterprises and mid-sized companies in entering the Australian home shopping channel 'Openshop.' Openshop is an Australian terrestrial TV home shopping channel that started in August 2019.
On the 4th, KOTRA announced that it planned this entry support project reflecting the increased demand for household goods and consumer products in Australia due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). To this end, KOTRA surveyed promising Korean consumer goods companies wishing to enter the Australian market and selected five companies together with Openshop. Since December last year, test marketing has been conducted through social media, and the final products to be aired on home shopping will be confirmed considering consumer responses.
The test marketing products include gaming chairs, black hair powder, heat-resistant pots, sheet-type laundry detergent, and masks?five items in total. These products have no overseas expansion experience but have been verified domestically. This year, the project will be further expanded to discover more than three sourcing target companies every month.
