The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission Resolved Over Half of 1,511 Grievance Consultations Last Year
"COVID-19 Local Challenges, Protection of Small Business Owners and Self-Employed Rights"
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission operated a mobile complaint center in 78 regions nationwide last year, consulting on 1,511 grievances and resolving 51.8%, or 782 cases, on-site.
The Commission stated on the 3rd, "We operated the 'Mobile Complaint Center' by visiting islands, remote areas, and rural markets across the country," adding, "This contributed to alleviating the grievances of vulnerable residents, small business owners, and self-employed individuals who faced difficulties due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19)."
They identified 65 households in welfare blind spots, including elderly living alone, single-parent families, and families with disabled children. In collaboration with related organizations such as social welfare councils, they provided emergency support for living and medical expenses.
The mobile complaint center was implemented while establishing self-quarantine plans for 'local government consultation centers' and 'mobile complaint consultation buses.'
Despite multiple postponements of scheduled plans and changes in operating regions, residents across various areas were able to safely receive civil complaint consultations and resolve grievances amid the COVID-19 situation.
In particular, the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions, which suffered the most damage in the early stages of COVID-19, were visited seven times between June and July to address unresolved daily life grievances and inconveniences caused by the pandemic.
