Sex Offender Personal Information Now Available for Verification via KakaoTalk
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Starting from the 5th, heads of households with children under the age of 19 living in areas where sex offenders reside will be able to view the personal information of sex offenders through the KakaoTalk app (mobile application).
The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family announced on the 3rd that after conducting a pilot operation of mobile personal information notification from November to December last year and addressing inconveniences reported by the public, the system will be fully implemented from the 5th.
The Ministry will notify heads of households with children under 19 via KakaoTalk that a sex offender lives in their area and guide them on how to view the offender's personal information.
Notified heads of households can sign up for KakaoPay, complete identity verification, and then access the information through the notification. They will be able to see the sex offender's name, age, address, actual residence, and photo.
The general public can continue to access information through the Ministry's existing 'Sex Offender Alert e' website (www.sexoffender.go.kr).

As of November last year, a total of 4,017 sex offenders have had their personal information disclosed, including Jo Doo-soon, who was released on the 12th of last month.
