[Golf Topic] Herman, 'COVID-19' Setback "Withdraws from PGA Tour Champions Championship"
[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] ○…Jim Herman (USA, photo) has been sidelined by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
On the 3rd (Korean time), he posted on his social media, "I tested positive for COVID-19 and will not be able to participate in this week's tournament," adding, "I don't know about the Sony Open next week either." This year's first PGA Tour event will open on the 7th in Maui, Hawaii, the Sentry Tournament of Champions (total prize money $6.7 million). Herman earned the right to participate by winning the Wyndham Championship last August, but his appearance was canceled due to COVID-19.

Herman is a player with three PGA Tour wins in total. The Sentry Tournament of Champions is originally a 'champion of champions' event where only the previous year's PGA Tour winners compete. Due to many tournaments being canceled last year because of COVID-19, this year players who participated in the 2019/2020 season finale Tour Championship, in addition to the previous year's winners, are allowed to compete. Forty-two players, including Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau (both USA), Jon Rahm (Spain), and Im Sung-jae (23, CJ Logistics), will participate.
