View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] Sign Telecom Co., Ltd. is set to accelerate the Ministry of Science and ICT's 'AI Convergence Coastal Guard System Construction Project.'
Sign Telecom plans to establish a coastal surveillance and monitoring system to prepare for future potential threats and non-military threats (illegal immigration, terrorism, disasters), starting with an integrated system applying artificial intelligence (AI)-based object recognition algorithms and tracking surveillance technology.
In particular, by the end of this year, the first-year development of the Ministry of Science and ICT project is completing the implementation of interconnection technology for surveillance cameras, radar signals, and ship location information, and has secured the AI data necessary to build a coastal guard system without false or missed alarms. Based on this year's achievements, the second-year development starting next year aims to advance video AI, signal AI, and ship AI to significantly reduce the coastal surveillance personnel of the integrated forces. The plan is to minimize false and missed alarms in coastal guard operations, improve operational convenience, and expand application to all army coastal outposts through the establishment of an AI cloud.
Especially, with video AI and signal AI technologies mounted on mobile platforms, they can be used for target detection and tracking, making it possible to expand not only into the battlefield surveillance system (ISR) and related surveillance markets but also into the reconnaissance market.
