9th to 1st Grade Civil Servant Success Story... Gyeongbuk Provincial Office Director Imuk, Concludes 40 Years of Public Service

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Gyeongsangbuk-do announced on the 30th that Director Lee Muk of the Disaster and Safety Office, who recorded a success story as a public official starting from grade 9 to grade 1, will conclude his over 40 years of public service as of January 3, 2021.
Director Lee, who began his public service career in 1981 as a grade 9 public official in Cheongdo-gun, served in various key positions including the Cultural Arts Industry Division, Autonomous Administration Division, Policy Planning Office of Gyeongbuk Province, Secretary General, Spokesperson, Deputy Mayor of Gumi, and Director of Disaster and Safety Office. He will retire after being promoted to Local Administrator (grade 1).
Walking only one path, he achieved many accomplishments in provincial administration development and received numerous awards such as the Green Stripes Order of Service Merit, Presidential Citation, and Prime Minister's Exemplary Public Official Citation. He was praised for personally practicing the provincial administration philosophy of "Change to Survive" based on excellent leadership, organizational affinity, and bold work execution, aligned with Governor Lee Cheol-woo's administration slogan for the 7th term, "New Wind, Happy Gyeongbuk."
While serving as Director of the Disaster and Safety Office this year, he showed relentless passion by managing the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters for the safety of residents, including proactive responses to the spread and containment of COVID-19, the Andong wildfire, prolonged monsoon rains, typhoons, and other natural disasters, working without a day off even on weekends throughout the year.
Director Lee Muk said, "I sincerely thank my senior and junior colleagues who have shared difficult challenges and adversities with me until the end of my public service career." He added, "Although my steps are heavy as I retire while COVID-19 is not yet over, I will continue to do my best as a member of the local community to realize a Happy Gyeongbuk."
