Hyundai E&C Introduces Health-Focused Products Including 'H Clean Zone' for Stroller Sterilization
[Asia Economy, reporter Kim Yuri] Hyundai Engineering & Construction announced on December 30 that it will introduce two specialized products for residents' health: the "H Clean Zone," which can sterilize and disinfect large childcare and household items inside apartments, and the "H Dress Entrance," which blocks external pollutants from entering the home.
With contactless activities becoming the norm due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a growing interest in healthy living spaces. Hyundai Engineering & Construction explained, "These products feature Hyundai E&C's patented technology, tailored for the contactless era."
The H Clean Zone utilizes the same photoplasma technology as the "Photoplasma Sterilization and Purification Ventilation System," which received its patent in June. Through this technology, various pollutants are removed in two stages. In the first stage, pollutants are destroyed as they pass through photoplasma inside the ceiling-mounted Air Care system. In the second stage, the chain reactions of hydroxyl and oxygen ions generated in the process further decompose and eliminate airborne bacteria, viruses, and other contaminants. This process can remove volatile organic compounds, formaldehyde, airborne bacteria such as bacteria and mold, and airborne viruses-substances that cannot be eliminated by standard filters, including HEPA filters.
The H Clean Zone will first be installed at Hillstate Lake Songdo 3rd Phase, scheduled for occupancy in 2023. The H Clean Zone is spacious enough to accommodate large childcare items that are easily contaminated and difficult to wash, such as strollers, car seats, and baby carriers, including large imported strollers. Strollers, which are essential childcare items, are particularly vulnerable to external bacterial growth and require careful management, yet are difficult to wash due to their structure. The H Clean Zone addresses this issue and can also be used for household items such as wheelchairs and walking aids for seniors.
At Hillstate Lake Songdo 3rd Phase, the first site to adopt this system, the H Clean Zone will be installed next to the coin laundry at the community entrance and beside the stroller storage at the H iForest (indoor playground), making it convenient for residents to use as they come and go.
In addition to the H Clean Zone, photoplasma technology will also be integrated with Hyundai E&C's proprietary Internet of Things (IoT) solution, Hi-oT, and used as an indoor air purification system for each household.
The "H Dress Entrance" is an upgraded entrance storage space that allows residents to sterilize and store personal items and outerwear contaminated with viruses or fine dust before entering the apartment. This product is an expanded version of the "H Clean Entrance," which was the first of its kind developed by a construction company, and will be gradually applied to new residential complexes starting in 2021. The H Dress Entrance comes in two types: a furniture-type and a storage-type. The furniture-type features a modular box system inside the entrance cabinet, equipped with a UV sterilizer, allowing residents to immediately place and disinfect everyday items as soon as they enter their home. It can also be used to sterilize items brought in from outside or delivered packages.
The storage-type is designed as a wall-mounted system with a folding door instead of a traditional swing door, maximizing space efficiency. Large items such as children's products or golf bags can be conveniently stored. If the storage cabinet is made deep enough, residents can also install a clothing care system in the entrance area.
