Jeongeup-si Eases Selection Criteria for Basic Livelihood Security Recipients Starting New Year
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk Province, announced that starting next year, more citizens will benefit from the relaxed eligibility criteria following the revision of the National Basic Livelihood Security Project.
According to the city on the 29th, from January 1st next year, the support obligation criteria will be abolished for households including seniors aged 65 and over and single-parent families.
Accordingly, regardless of the presence or absence of a support obligor, applicants who meet the income and property criteria can receive livelihood benefits.
The support obligor criteria refer to considering the income and property levels of all household members related by direct lineal kinship (parents and children) when selecting beneficiaries for basic livelihood security.
By abolishing the support obligor criteria, beneficiaries can receive livelihood benefits as long as they meet the income and property standards themselves, even if a support obligor exists.
This aims to eliminate welfare blind spots by supporting those who have been unable to receive practical help due to the presence of a support obligor despite difficulties in economic activities themselves.
However, support will not be provided if the support obligor has a high income (annual 100 million KRW, monthly 8.34 million KRW) or high property (excluding financial assets, 900 million KRW).
Applications can be made at the resident registration address's eup, myeon, or dong community service centers, and if designated as a livelihood benefit recipient, benefits can be retroactively received from the month of application.
The city plans to distribute promotional materials in places frequently visited by many people and in low-income concentrated areas, and will continuously promote through the Jeongeup City website and SNS.
