Recruitment of Medical Institutions to Participate in Suicide Prevention Project for Gangbuk-gu Residents
Assessment of Suicide Risk for Visitors to Local Medical Institutions, Actions Based on Risk Level... Currently 52 Institutions Participating, Additional Medical Institutions Recruiting Until January 15
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangbuk-gu (District Mayor Park Kyum-soo) is promoting a project to prevent suicide among local residents in cooperation with hospitals and clinics in the area, and is recruiting participating medical institutions for 2021.
According to the ‘Life Love Medical Institution Mental Health Promotion Project,’ the district will conduct depression screenings and suicide risk assessments for visitors using local medical institutions and Korean medicine clinics, and take appropriate measures based on the severity of the results.
Based on the test results, subjects will be classified into low, medium, and high-risk groups. The low and medium-risk groups will be continuously monitored, and face-to-face counseling will be provided if necessary.
For the high-risk group, immediate intervention within 24 hours will be carried out, with focused management and necessary actions planned.
Currently, 52 institutions are participating, including 18 hospitals and clinics, 10 Korean medicine clinics, 5 dental clinics, and 1 pharmacy. In 2019, a total of 6,040 screenings were conducted, and among them, the district identified and intervened with 540 individuals in the risk group for management.
The district is currently recruiting additional participating medical institutions and has sent project information and application forms to 464 hospitals and clinics in the area.
Institutions wishing to participate should complete the application form and submit it to the Gangbuk-gu Public Health Center by fax or email by January 15.
