Non-Face-to-Face Youth Festival Enjoyed While Doing Crafts at Home
Geumcheon-gu Recruiting Participants for Non-Face-to-Face Youth Festival 'Kit Making'... 160 Youth Participants Accepted on a First-Come, First-Served Basis from Dec 28 to Jan 3... Craft Kits Made in Local Workshop One-Day Classes Delivered to Each Home... 10 Participants Who Submit Outstanding Reviews After Completing Craftwork Will Receive Small Prizes
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) is recruiting youth participants for the ‘Craft Kit Making’ program, part of this year’s Youth Festival, from December 28 to January 3.
The Youth Festival is usually organized and created by a youth planning team, but this year it has been replaced with a non-face-to-face kit-making program due to the increased social distancing measures amid the spread of COVID-19.
The program involves delivering craft kits made at local workshop one-day classes to each youth’s home. The youths complete their own craft projects by referring to the instruction manuals and video lectures included in the kits.
The kits include various types such as ‘Ladder Storage Box Making,’ ‘Plaster Air Freshener Making,’ ‘Leather Card Wallet Making,’ ‘Succulent Candle Making,’ and ‘Hand-knitted Doll Making.’
The video lectures can be selected and viewed by searching the keyword ‘Yeonhap Festival’ on the district’s official website search bar according to the type of experience kit.
This program is open to any youth (middle and high school students) registered as residents in the district.
Youths wishing to participate can apply from the 28th to January 3 through the ‘Education/Lectures’ board on the Geumcheon-gu Office website’s integrated reservation service. The program will accept the first 160 applicants, and participation is free of charge.
Kits will be delivered within one week after the application deadline, and participants must complete their kits and submit a review via email (geumcheon101@gmail.com) by January 15.

Mayor Yu Seong-hoon said, “We prepared the Youth Festival in a unique way to support youths tired from studies and daily life during the COVID-19 situation and to provide an opportunity for a change of mood. Although we cannot enjoy the festival together as in previous years, we hope that the non-face-to-face festival will help youths regain vitality in their weary hearts.”
