Seoul Jung-gu Distributes Over 8,700 Thermometers to Food Service Establishments
Strengthening Everyday Quarantine Measures to Raise Awareness About COVID-19
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon have issued an administrative order banning gatherings of five or more people from 0:00 on the 23rd until 24:00 on the 3rd of next month, strengthening strict quarantine measures in preparation for the surge in COVID-19 cases.
In line with this, Jung-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Seo Yang-ho) has also stepped up quarantine efforts and is carefully managing daily quarantine measures that residents can participate in themselves.
As one method for this, Jung-gu began distributing non-contact thermometers to food service establishments in the area starting on the 23rd.
The purpose is to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by ensuring that not only visiting customers but also owners and employees check their temperature at least once a day and strictly comply with quarantine rules, raising awareness of the recent situation.
The distribution targets approximately 8,700 food service establishments located in Jung-gu, including general (rest) restaurants and bakeries.
Distribution will be carried out sequentially by neighborhood starting from the 23rd to the respective establishments under jurisdiction. For any questions regarding thermometer distribution, each business can contact the neighborhood community center where they are located.
Seo Yang-ho, Mayor of Jung-gu, said, "We will focus administrative efforts to establish a voluntary and responsible quarantine awareness and do our best until the end to make Jung-gu a safe district for residents," and added, "We ask everyone to participate in refraining from private gatherings and following personal quarantine rules to overcome the COVID-19 crisis."
