Seoul Reports Record High 552 New COVID-19 Cases Yesterday... Dongbu Detention Center Cases Increase by 288 (Comprehensive)

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Yesterday, the number of new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Seoul exceeded 500 in a single day, setting a record high. Nearly 300 new cases were reported in just one day at the Dongbu Detention Center in Songpa-gu.
As of midnight on the 25th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Seoul increased by 552 from the previous day, bringing the total cumulative cases to 16,602.
This is the first time since the first confirmed COVID-19 case in Seoul in January this year that daily new cases have exceeded 500. It is also nearly 80 cases higher than the previous record of 473 on the 19th.
The daily new confirmed cases in Seoul, which had temporarily dropped to the 200s on the 13th and 14th of this month, have been above 300 for ten consecutive days since the 15th.
On the 24th, a staggering 288 cases were confirmed at the Dongbu Detention Center in Songpa-gu alone. As a result, the total number of cases related to this location has increased by 510 so far.
Additionally, there were 3 new cases at a church in Gangseo-gu (cumulative 226), 1 new case at a church in Dongdaemun-gu (cumulative 16), and 1 new case related to an insurance company in Mapo-gu (cumulative 16), continuing the existing cluster infections. New cluster infection cases were also confirmed at a workplace in Jung-gu (cumulative 20) and a social gathering in Gangdong-gu (cumulative 11).
Other cases include 138 from contact with confirmed patients, 13 from contact with confirmed patients from other cities and provinces, 2 imported cases, and 100 cases with infection routes under investigation.
The number of deaths in Seoul increased by 1, bringing the total to 148. So far, 9,320 patients have been declared recovered and discharged, while 7,134 are currently in isolation and receiving treatment.
