Four Policy Proposals Related to the Four Major Child Rights Areas Specified in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Good Neighbors Jeonnam Western Branch (Branch Manager Bae Junyeol) announced on the 25th that they held a policy proposal meeting at the Jeollanam-do Provincial Council together with Good Motion, an organization for child rights monitoring.
The meeting was held with the attendance of Bae Junyeol, Branch Manager of Good Neighbors Jeonnam Western Branch; Kang Jeonghee, Chairperson of the Health, Welfare and Environment Committee of Jeollanam-do Provincial Council; Kim Ho, Head of the Child Welfare Team at Jeollanam-do Provincial Government; Son Yonghee, Officer; and four members of Good Motion, the child rights monitoring group.
Good Neighbors Jeonnam Western Branch’s child rights monitoring group, Good Motion, sought ways to protect children's rights within the local community based on their direct inspections of situations where the rights of children and adolescents are violated in daily life.
During the meeting, the child rights monitoring members proposed policies related to the four areas of children's rights specified in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child: the right to survival, the right to development, the right to participation, and the right to protection.
Based on their inspection of child rights violation situations, they proposed four policies: ▲ safety inspection and repair of children's playground facilities ▲ strengthening enforcement against speeding vehicles near children's playgrounds ▲ strengthening smoking enforcement within children's playgrounds ▲ installation of safety rule signboards.
Bae Junyeol, Branch Manager of Good Neighbors Jeonnam Western Branch, said, “Through the activities of Good Motion, the child rights monitoring group, I hope our society will listen attentively to the voices of children,” and added, “We will strive to create an environment where children in the local community can live happily.”
Kang Jeonghee, Chairperson of the Health, Welfare and Environment Committee of Jeollanam-do Provincial Council, stated, “We will actively incorporate the contents of the policy proposals regarding the management of playground environments in Jeollanam-do suggested by Good Motion during this policy proposal meeting,” and added, “We will work to make Jeollanam-do a place where children are happy.”
