Letter Concert 'Dvo??k Going Home' Recorded Broadcast on Naver TV on the 28th
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] The small theater Sanwoollim will broadcast the 'Sanwoollim Letter Concert' for free on the Sanwoollim channel of Naver TV at 8 p.m. on the 28th this year.
'Sanwoollim Letter Concert' is a program that highlights the lives and music of immortal musicians through classical live performances and theater. Since starting the Letter Concert in 2013, Sanwoollim has shed light on the lives and music of Beethoven, Schumann, Schubert, Mozart, Brahms, and Tchaikovsky. Sanwoollim began the Letter Concert in 2013 with piano and string quartet, gradually expanding its musical world by including art songs, opera, wind instruments, and even ballet last year.
The '2020 Sanwoollim Letter Concert - Going Home,' to be presented as an online recorded broadcast on the 28th, is staged as a fictional interview reconstructing the life of Dvo??k, newly illuminating his musical world.
Anton?n Dvo??k (1841?1904) was a world-renowned musician born in the Czech lands. Born near Prague under Austrian rule, Dvo??k sought to preserve Bohemian identity throughout his life, and Czech national sentiment is deeply embedded in all his music. Born the son of a poor farmer, he spent a long period of musical training in Prague. He applied for a government scholarship awarded to 'young, talented, and poor' artists by the Austrian government, and thanks to Brahms, who was a judge at the time and recognized Dvo??k's talent, he was able to make a name for himself as a musician. Dvo??k's music, comfortable and familiar yet noble, gradually gained popularity throughout Europe, and his reputation was further solidified through exchanges with leading musicians of the time such as Brahms and Tchaikovsky.
Dvo??k was especially invited as the first director of the National Conservatory of Music in New York and stayed in the United States for nearly four years, during which he created masterpieces such as 'Symphony No. 9 - From the New World,' 'String Quartet - America,' and 'Cello Concerto.' At a time when America was almost a musical wasteland, Dvo??k showed interest in African American music and Native American folk songs, serving as a musical bridge between the Old World and the New World, and greatly influencing the formation of American contemporary music.
