Tokyo Metropolitan Area Reports 888 New COVID-19 Cases... Highest Record to Date

This surpasses the previous highest daily number of 821 cases recorded on the 17th, just one week ago.
The cumulative number of confirmed cases in Tokyo has increased to 54,018.
Since the beginning of this month, more than 13,000 COVID-19 infections have been confirmed in Tokyo.

Meanwhile, according to local public broadcaster NHK's tally, 3,271 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed nationwide in Japan the previous day, breaking the highest daily record of 3,211 cases set on the 17th, just six days ago.
