Gwanak-gu Selected as an Excellent Innovative Local Government for Two Consecutive Years
Park Jun-hee, Gwanak-gu Mayor's Innovative Leadership, Highly Rated for Work Efficiency through Collaboration, Selected for Two Consecutive Years as an Excellent Institution in Local Government Innovation Evaluation by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) has been selected as an excellent institution for two consecutive years in the '2020 Local Government Innovation Evaluation' hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
The Local Government Innovation Evaluation is an assessment conducted on 243 local governments to select outstanding local governments with excellent regional innovation efforts and achievements.
After evaluation by the 'Government Innovation Evaluation Team' composed of experts and the 'Citizen Evaluation Team' composed of general citizens, 62 local governments were selected and will receive government awards and special grant financial incentives in the first half of 2021.
The district received balanced scores in all 12 indicators across 5 evaluation categories (institutional autonomous innovation, inclusive administration, participation and cooperation, trusted government, innovation diffusion and citizen experience), and was highly rated in areas such as 'innovation leadership of the head of the institution' and 'work efficiency through collaboration.'
Setting 'innovation' as the core policy direction of the 7th elected term, Gwanak-gu has been promoting various innovation policies, including establishing the 'Four-Year District Administration Operation Plan' for improving residents' quality of life and sustainable regional growth, and the 'Gwanak Innovation Plan' to respond to change and challenges.
Representative citizen-experience innovation cases such as 'Smart City, Gwanak' for new regional changes, 'Gwanak Youth Special Zone for Happy Youth,' and 'Gwanakcheong,' the nation's first communication space between residents and the district mayor, have received positive responses from residents.
Meanwhile, this year, the district has consecutively won major awards such as the 'Korea Knowledge Award,' 'Local Government Productivity Award,' 'Korea Spatial Welfare Award,' and 'Animal Welfare Award' through various administrative innovations.
