3 Are Hongik Orphanage Residents... Comprehensive Investigation of Daeseong Academy and Hongik Orphanage
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters (Jeju) Reporter Park Chang-won] A large number of COVID-19 cases related to an instructor at Daeseong Academy in Jeju Special Self-Governing Province have emerged, putting quarantine authorities on high alert.
According to Jeju Province on the 24th, seven people related to instructor A at Daeseong Academy located in Ido-dong, Jeju City, were confirmed positive the previous day.
These confirmed cases are elementary, middle, and high school students in the province, including one student each from Jeju Dong Elementary School, Tamna Middle School, Jeju Girls' Middle School, and Yeongju High School, and three students from Ohyeon Middle School.
Among the seven, five are Daeseong Academy attendees. Quarantine authorities conducted diagnostic tests on 18 academy students and 10 instructors who were contacts of instructor A, who tested positive on the 22nd.
The remaining two were found to be family members or contacts of the confirmed Daeseong Academy students.
Quarantine authorities plan to conduct additional comprehensive testing for all Daeseong Academy students as more confirmed cases related to the academy have occurred.
Additionally, three of the confirmed cases were identified as residents of Hongik Daycare Center, prompting a full inspection of the daycare center.

Quarantine authorities are discussing countermeasures with the Jeju Provincial Office of Education and plan to implement quarantine measures as soon as detailed movement paths and contacts of confirmed cases related to the academy and daycare center are identified.
