Sewon Supplies Initial Header Condenser Shipment to Lucid Motors... "Expanding Sales Toward Eco-Friendly Vehicles"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Seowon, a specialized company in automotive air conditioning system components, announced on the 23rd that it has started supplying parts to the first mass-produced electric vehicle of the American electric car company Lucid Motors.
In September, Seowon secured a new order worth 6.3 billion KRW for electric vehicle header condensers from Lucid Motors. The product is used in the pure electric vehicle model 'Lucid Air,' which is evaluated as a luxury sedan comparable to the Tesla Model S, and is scheduled for full-scale mass production in March 2021.
A Seowon official said, "We have completed the initial supply of header condensers to the global electric vehicle company Lucid Motors," and added, "From 2021 onwards, we expect the orders and supply of parts for global electric vehicles to expand further, including Hyundai's pure electric vehicle NE-EV, Ford's pure electric pickup truck, and Rivian's electric pickup truck, which is the world's first mass-produced model."
He continued, "As demand for high value-added products for electric and hydrogen vehicles continues to increase, the sales proportion for eco-friendly vehicles is expected to grow next year as well as this year," adding, "This year, sales for eco-friendly vehicles nearly doubled compared to 2019 due to increased supply of electric vehicle parts to Hyundai Kia Motors, Ford, and others."
Lucid Motors is an electric vehicle company led by Peter Rawlinson, who was the development head of the Tesla Model S. The Lucid Air, unveiled last September, can travel approximately 823 km on a single charge, overwhelming existing electric vehicles on the market in terms of driving range and charging speed, and is regarded as a strong rival to Tesla.
