Kim Hyun-ah, an emergency committee member of the People Power Party, criticized on her Facebook on the 22nd, saying, "Isn't the principle of one household, one house already in place? Otherwise, wouldn't it all be fines (punitive taxes)?"
Kim added, "Or is this a 'show-off' that the ruling party can do even this because they are the majority? It seems an urgent 'stop the ruling party's legislative activities' law is needed," and pointed out, "This is no longer anti-marketism, but openly 'Let's go socialism (Gaja).'"
Park Soo-young, a member of the same party, said on her Facebook, "It is terrifying that socialist laws restricting private property could come out recklessly." She then questioned, "Since when did our people agree to abandon liberal democracy and market economy and move toward socialism?"
She also criticized, "Next, there might be a bill proposing a salary cap system so that everyone earns the same regardless of their job."
Ahn Hye-jin, spokesperson for the People's Party, called it "a heinous trick to cover up the real estate failure." In a statement that day, Ahn criticized, "House prices will never fall that way." She quoted Jin's TV debate remark after the government's 'July 10 Real Estate Measures' announcement, where he said, "Even if you do that, (house prices) will not fall. Real estate issues are not something new."
Earlier, Jin announced on the 22nd that he had taken the lead in proposing an amendment to the Housing Basic Act to specify the principle of 'one household, one house ownership and residence' as a basic principle of current housing policy. The amendment focuses on △ one household, one house ownership and residence △ priority supply of housing to the homeless and actual residents △ prohibition of housing speculation as basic principles of housing policy.

Meanwhile, as controversy over the bill grew, Jin clarified on his Facebook, "This law does not at all mean that multiple house ownership by one household is not recognized." He questioned, "How can we deny the fact that houses owned by individuals are private property?" and added, "The principle of one household, one house has already been institutionalized. Points are given when the homeless apply for housing, and heavy taxation is imposed on multiple house owners who are not actual residents."
