'Emission Reduction' Public Procurement Service Innovative Prototype Introduced to Daejeon Public Vehicles
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] A ‘vehicle emission reduction device’ developed by a local venture company and selected as an innovative prototype by the Public Procurement Service will be pilot-installed on public vehicles.
Daejeon City announced on the 22nd that from this month, emission reduction devices will be installed on 29 public vehicles for pilot operation.
This project is being promoted to reduce emissions from mobile sources on roads, which account for 35% of local air pollutant emissions, aiming to eliminate fine dust and secure citizens’ health rights.
After the pilot operation, the city plans to verify the impact of the reduction device on fuel efficiency and the resulting budget savings, and subsequently expand its introduction to public vehicles of affiliated organizations, city buses, taxis, and more.
Previously, the city conducted a 1,000 km road test over the past year with vehicles equipped with the product, confirming a 66.8% reduction effect in emissions.
Meanwhile, the company that developed the vehicle emission reduction device is Araon Co., Ltd., headquartered in Daedeok-gu, Daejeon. Araon was founded in 2018 and currently operates as a technology company with venture company status and an affiliated research institute.
