Shinhan Financial Group Successfully Completes $280 Million IB Deal for Amazon Logistics Center
Aegis Asset Management and Consortium Successfully Arrange $280 Million IB Financing
[Asia Economy Reporter Kangwook Cho] Shinhan Financial Group's Global Investment Banking (GIB) division announced on the 22nd that it has successfully completed an IB deal worth a total of USD 280 million related to the purchase of an Amazon logistics center in the United States.
Shinhan GIB division and Aegis Asset Management formed a consortium to acquire the logistics center that Amazon is constructing in New Mexico. They established a stable revenue base through a long-term lease agreement with Amazon for up to 45 years (minimum 20 years) starting from the building's completion date in September next year.
Of the total deal amount of USD 280 million, Shinhan Bank arranged a senior loan of USD 188 million. Additionally, Shinhan Investment Corp. fully subscribed to USD 93 million in mezzanine and equity, which will be sold down through public offerings and other methods.
Notably, this deal is the first case in which a domestic financial company directly transacted with Amazon for an Amazon logistics center. Shinhan Financial plans to leverage this deal as a stepping stone to build a friendly relationship with Amazon and continuously pursue further deals.
