Kim Jong-cheol, Leader of the Justice Party, Visits Gwangju... Urges Enactment of the Serious Accident Punishment Act
Entrance Ceremony for Families of Industrial Accident Workers Also Held
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Kim Jong-cheol, leader of the Justice Party, visited Gwangju to urge the enactment of the Serious Accident Punishment Act (hereinafter referred to as the Serious Accident Act).
According to the Justice Party Gwangju Metropolitan City Party on the 21st, Kim visited the Justice Party's Serious Accident Act tent protest site installed at Geumho Intersection in Seo-gu, Gwangju, and held an induction ceremony for the bereaved family who lost their child due to an industrial accident.
The father of the late laborer Kim Jae-soon, who participated in the induction ceremony, said, "I have yet to receive a sincere apology from the workplace where my son died," and added, "I decided to join the party to contribute even a small amount of support."
Justice Party leader Kim said, "I sincerely thank the father of the late laborer Kim Jae-soon for becoming a member of the Justice Party, but I cannot say welcome," expressing regret, "We should have first created a society without serious accidents, not one where bereaved families of industrial accident workers become party members."
He continued, "It has been eleven days since the mother of the late laborer Kim Yong-gyun, the father of the late PD Lee Han-bit, and our party floor leader Kang Eun-mi began an indefinite hunger strike at the National Assembly," emphasizing, "Although tragedy happened to my family, I am confident that the families' desperation to prevent it from happening to others is being conveyed to many people."
