52 Korean Contemporary Artists Introduced by the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art
52-Person Interview Videos Released Online Weekly for One Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA) will release interview videos with 52 Korean contemporary artists online.
The videos were produced to enhance understanding of Korean contemporary art and artists, as well as to document the exhibiting artists. Starting from the 24th, one video will be released weekly for about a year on the MMCA website and YouTube channel.
'MMCA Conversations with Artists' is a program consisting of interview videos that allow easy and comfortable access to the studios and artistic worlds of artists who exhibited at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (Seoul, Gwacheon, Cheongju) from this year through next year. A 20-minute summary version will be available on the museum’s online gallery and YouTube, while the full 90-minute videos can be viewed on the museum’s YouTube channel.

The MMCA selected 52 artists who were introduced in exhibitions at the museum in 2020. The program covers the lives and art of a diverse range of contemporary artists, from senior to young creators. It also explores various trends and genres of art, from painting to media, printmaking, and installation, allowing viewers to see the footsteps and representative works of Korean contemporary art online every week. English subtitles will be provided so that overseas audiences can also enjoy Korean contemporary art.
