The support complex is located on a 101,951㎡ site within Mokpo North Port, with a total floor area of 14,366㎡ (4 floors above ground). Since the new budget was allocated in 2014, the total project cost of 37.9 billion KRW has been jointly borne by the government (50%), local governments (20%), and Mokpo Fisheries Cooperative (30%).
The complex includes an auction hall for large-scale trading of fresh fish such as yellow croaker, hairtail, and pomfret, as well as salted shrimp; facilities for repackaging hairtail and other fish for convenient consumer use and processing dried yellow corvina; and producer convenience facilities such as ice-making, freezing, refrigerated storage, duty-free fuel supply, and sales facilities.
Once the support complex is fully operational, fishermen in the Southwest Region, one of the largest domestic seafood production areas, will be able to handle seafood auctioning, processing, storage, sales, and fuel supply all in one place. Furthermore, as the auction, processing, and sales stages will be conducted in modernized facilities, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries expects that the overall hygiene level throughout the seafood trading process will be significantly enhanced.

Im Tae-hoon, Director of Distribution Policy at the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, said, "We expect that the difficulties faced by fishermen who were unable to auction seafood on time due to the lack of auction halls and freezing facilities in the Southwest Region will gradually be resolved." He added, "We will continue to strive to provide a one-stop seafood distribution service starting from the production site to benefit both fishermen and consumers."
