Samsung SDS Wins First Place at International Genomic Data Analysis Competition
[Asia Economy Reporter Bu Aeri] Samsung SDS announced on the 20th that it won joint first place in the international genome information analysis security competition 'iDASH 2020' using homomorphic encryption technology.
Homomorphic encryption is a technology that analyzes and processes data in an encrypted state to securely protect sensitive information such as personal data.
iDASH is the world's only genome information analysis security competition, started in 2014 with sponsorship from the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH), and is attended annually by global IT companies, universities, and research institutions.
This year, Samsung SDS participated in the 'Homomorphic Encryption-based Cancer Type Analysis' category. They analyzed encrypted genome variation data of about 900 individuals provided by the organizers using homomorphic encryption technology and predicted cancer types.
Among 36 teams worldwide, Samsung SDS was selected as joint first place along with two security specialist companies including Seoul National University.
