US COVID-19 Daily Cases Reach 250,000... Record High

AFP news agency reported on the 16th (local time), citing statistics from Johns Hopkins University, that the daily new COVID-19 cases in the United States reached 250,000. This is the highest number of daily new COVID-19 cases recorded.
AFP also stated that the daily deaths from COVID-19 exceeded 3,700, marking the highest death toll ever recorded.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services reported that the number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients reached 113,000 on the same day.
Health authorities are on high alert ahead of this Christmas holiday, in connection with the sharp increase in cases during last month's Thanksgiving holiday.
