Naver Cloud Accelerates Global Expansion "Seeking Partnership with Domestic SMEs"
[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Naver Cloud announced on the 17th its plan to enter the global market alongside domestic small and medium-sized software (SW) companies.
Park Ki-eun, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Naver Cloud, said at the Naver Cloud Summit held online that day, "Cloud-based services such as Software as a Service (SaaS) are characterized by having no borders," adding, "As Korea's leading cloud provider, we are seeking to enter the global market together with SaaS companies."
Park CTO added, "Using overseas cloud regions does not incur additional costs for launching in foreign markets."
He emphasized, "Especially overseas, domestic brand recognition will not work the same way, so we believe that an approach centered on services tailored or specialized for target markets, that is, SaaS, is appropriate."
Park CTO cited examples of cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) utilization during this year's COVID-19 situation, including providing information on public mask sales, online school openings, and automated calls to COVID-19 active monitoring subjects.
He said, "The e-learning system, which could only accommodate 40,000 users, was expanded to support up to 3 million simultaneous connections, and such a rapid response would have been absolutely impossible without the cloud."
He continued, "We aim not only to offer service products but also to equip companies with field-specific solutions needed from a business perspective," explaining, "We are bundling product groups from each field to form a single vertical solution product group."
