Doosan Heavy Industries to Collaborate with Jeonbuk on Southwestern Offshore Wind Power Complex Development
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyewon] Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction announced on the 17th that it has signed a business agreement with Jeollabuk-do to attract companies for the creation of an offshore wind power complex in the region's waters.
The signing ceremony held at the provincial government office was attended by Song Ha-jin, Governor of Jeollabuk-do, Jung Yeon-in, President of Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction, and other officials.
Through this agreement, Jeollabuk-do will provide administrative support such as permits and approvals to ensure that offshore wind power systems developed by domestic offshore wind manufacturers, including Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction, are given priority application in the province's jurisdictional waters. Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction will be responsible for manufacturing wind turbines, maintenance, and complex development.
Jung Yeon-in, President of Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction, said, "We have created an opportunity to cooperate for the full-scale promotion of the Jeollabuk-do offshore wind power project, a domestic offshore wind power hub, and the southwestern Jeollabuk-do offshore wind power project." He added, "We will strive to contribute to job creation and coexistence with local companies through new investments for manufacturing offshore wind turbines within the province."

Jeollabuk-do is promoting the "Jeonbuk Southwestern Offshore Wind Power Project," which will be constructed with a total capacity of 2.4GW, including a 400MW pilot complex and a 2GW expansion complex in the offshore area between Gochang and Buan counties. The total project cost reaches 14 trillion KRW, with completion scheduled for 2028. Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction previously supplied 20 units of 3MW-class wind turbines for a 60MW demonstration project conducted earlier.
