Daegu City Awards the Grand Prize of the 44th Proud Citizen Award to Lim Sang-gyu, CEO of Kyungin Pharm

View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] Daegu City announced on the 17th that it has selected six awardees, including one Grand Prize winner, three Main Prize winners, and two Special Prize winners, through the '44th Proud Citizen Award' Public Evaluation Committee meeting.
This year's Grand Prize winner, Lim Sang-gyu (71), CEO of Kyungin Pharmaceutical, was recognized for his significant contributions to the development of the local community by serving as an executive of the Pharmaceutical Association, a member of the Daegu Attraction Committee for the Advanced Medical Complex, and president of the Daegu Ice Skating Federation.
The Main Prize winners by category were Choi Sang-sik (66), president of the Workplace and Factory Saemaul Undong Daegu City Council in the Community Development category; Kang Min-jung (66, female), president of the Korean Red Cross Volunteer Association National Council in the Social Service category; and Lee Jung-sook (57, female), president of the Korean Red Cross Daegu Jung-gu Branch Council in the Good Deeds and Filial Piety category.
President Choi Sang-sik has devoted over 20 years to Saemaul Undong activities and has made great efforts to raise Daegu's international status through support activities for underdeveloped countries via the World Vision Sponsorship Association.
President Kang Min-jung has conducted various volunteer activities as a Red Cross volunteer, including Korean culture experience classes for multicultural families, sending Hanbok to overseas Koreans, and Hope Windmill sponsorship activities to support vulnerable groups in the community.
President Lee Jung-sook has been a role model in the community by continuing acts of kindness such as sponsoring annual senior citizen banquets and giving carnations on Parents' Day to elderly residents in need.
The Special Prize winners were Yang Gyun-ryeol (62), chairman of the Suseong-gu Community Service Council, and Kim Tae-soo (58, female), president of the Hanuri Volunteer Group.
Chairman Yang Gyun-ryeol has worked for the happiness of marginalized neighbors through activities in the Hope Sharing Committee and the Community Security Council. He has also warmed the local community through various sponsorship activities such as supporting scholarship foundations and donating to the Hope Suseong Angel Account.
President Kim Tae-soo has practiced sharing with local elderly residents by supporting meals at senior welfare centers. She has also actively participated in various volunteer activities through social organizations.
The award ceremony for the 44th Proud Citizen Award recipients is scheduled to take place at the Daegu Citizens' Day event next February.
Daegu Mayor Kwon Young-jin said, "I sincerely congratulate those who received the Proud Citizen Award, the most traditional and prestigious honor in Daegu City," adding, "Although these are difficult times due to COVID-19, the awardees will serve as a source of hope and courage for many citizens."

Meanwhile, the Daegu Proud Citizen Award has been held 43 times from 1977 to last year, producing a total of 144 awardees. Daegu City honors the recipients by inviting them as guests to various city events, and their award achievements are permanently preserved as Daegu City records.
