View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Junho Hwang] The first sunrise of next year will occur at 7:47 AM on January 1st. This is the time when the first sunrise can be viewed in Seoul. On Dokdo, the new year of the Year of the Ox can be welcomed earlier, starting at 7:26 AM. The Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute announced on the 17th the sunset times on the last day of this year and the sunrise times on the first day of next year for major regions.
First Sunrise, 7:26 AM on January 1st
The earliest time to see the first sunrise of next year in Korea is 7:26 AM on Dokdo, the easternmost point of the country. Starting five minutes later, the sunrise can be seen inland beginning from Ulsan Ganjeolgot and Bangojin.
If you plan to watch the sunrise near your home due to the COVID-19 pandemic, you should leave your house before 7:50 AM. The sunrise times for major regions are scheduled as follows: Seoul at 7:47 AM, Incheon at 7:48 AM, Daejeon at 7:42 AM, Daegu at 7:36 AM, Gwangju at 7:41 AM, and Busan at 7:32 AM.
The sunrise times are calculated based on an altitude of 0 meters above sea level. The higher the altitude, the earlier the sunrise time; at 100 meters above sea level, the actual sunrise time is expected to be about 2 minutes earlier than the announced time. Sunrise refers to the moment when the upper edge of the sun begins to appear on the horizon (or the horizontal line).
Last Sunset of This Year, 5:40 PM on December 31st
As the year of the Earth Pig (Giheonyeon) comes to an end, Made in Korea export goods waiting to be shipped worldwide are lined up at the Korean Air cargo plane in the cargo terminal of Incheon International Airport. Despite prolonged US-China trade conflicts and Japan's export restrictions, which have led to domestic and international economic downturn forecasts, there is hope that Made in Korea products will spread across the world in the new year.
