Kakao Removes 'Adobe Flash'... Website System Overhaul
[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Kakao will revamp its system on the 17th ahead of the official end of technical support for Adobe Flash Player.
Flash is software that supports multimedia content such as music, videos, games, and advertisements running on web browsers. Adobe, the developer of Flash based in the United States, announced that it will officially end support on the 31st.
Once official support ends, patch updates to fix vulnerabilities will also stop, exposing users to risks such as hacking exploiting security weaknesses and infection by new malware.
To prevent such security incidents in advance, Kakao will remove the currently used Flash from services such as the Daum website, KakaoTV, and Daum Editor, replacing it with open web standard technologies like 'HTML5', 'WebGL', and 'WebAssembly'.
