Conductor Jung Myung-hoon, One Korea Orchestra Presents a Concert of Comfort Through Music
Performance of Brahms Symphony No. 4 and Sibelius Violin Concerto... Violinist Shin Ji-a Collaboration
[Asia Economy Reporter Byunghee Park] Conductor Chung Myung-whun will take the stage at Lotte Concert Hall on the 28th with the One Korea Orchestra, where he serves as music director.
This special performance, organized by the Lotte Cultural Foundation to offer comfort to everyone who has had a difficult year, will feature Chung Myung-whun and the One Korea Orchestra performing Brahms' Symphony No. 4 and Sibelius' Violin Concerto. Violinist Shin Ji-ah will collaborate on Sibelius' Violin Concerto in the first half and lead the performance of Brahms' Symphony No. 4 as concertmaster in the second half.
The One Korea Orchestra was founded in 2017 with the aim of promoting inter-Korean exchange, bringing together current and former members of domestic orchestras and Korean musicians active overseas. On the One Korea Orchestra stage, audiences can see soloists who are usually difficult to meet in one place, such as violinist Shin Ji-ah, flutist Cho Sung-hyun, and oboist Ham Kyung. This year, Shin Ji-ah will once again serve as concertmaster of the One Korea Orchestra, following her role in 2018.
Brahms is a major part of Chung Myung-whun's repertoire. In particular, he has performed Brahms' Symphony No. 4, which will be played in this concert, multiple times with prestigious orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic and the Dresden Staatskapelle, and has also recorded it with the Czech Philharmonic. Last year, Chung guest-conducted Brahms' Symphony No. 4 during the Dresden Staatskapelle's tour in Korea.

The Chung Myung-whun & One Korea Orchestra concert will cancel all existing reservations and reopen ticket sales with two-seat spacing according to social distancing guidelines. A pre-opening for existing ticket holders will be held at 11 a.m. on the 18th, and general ticket sales will open at 4 p.m. on the same day.
