Nexon Launches Cultural Support Project Breaking Boundaries Between Games and Art
[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] The Nexon Foundation has recently launched initiatives to promote the value of games, including announcing cultural and artistic support projects.
According to Nexon on the 15th, the Nexon Foundation released an online discussion program titled "Borderless: Tiki-Taka Game Backtalk" on the 29th of last month. The program features experiences and stories about games shared by experts from various fields.
Participants included Choi Yuna, Director of the Nexon Computer Museum; content creator Daedoseogwan; Kim Kyung-il, Chairman of the Game Culture Foundation; Lee Eun-seok, Director at Nexon Korea; Ryu Jeong-hwa, exhibition planner; Park Yoon-jin, film director; and Seo Jae-won, architect.
Architect Seo emphasized, "Architecture designs people's daily lives, and games have now become a complete part of daily life," adding, "Game developers, players, and architects are all creators who can inspire each other."
Director Lee stated, "In my view, games are digital entertainment," and added, "I believe games will establish themselves as the most progressive creative media and a means of self-expression."
Prior to this, on the 18th of last month, Nexon also released two "Borderless Music Videos," which showcase attempts to transcend the boundaries between art and games. The two music videos depict players breaking down the barriers between reality and virtuality, interacting with characters within the game's virtual world.

Last year, the Nexon Foundation held an exhibition titled "Playing Games/invite you_" to commemorate the 25th anniversary of online games. The exhibition visualized the past, present, and future of online games. It also won the main prize in the "Red Dot Award: Brand & Communication Design 2020" category at the global design competition.
