Suncheon-si Overcomes COVID-19 Cold with Winter Firewood Sharing
Firewood to Warm the Cold Winter, 100 Tons Shared Among 100 Households
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City (Mayor Heo Seok) is conducting a "Sharing Love Firewood" campaign from the previous day until the 31st to warm the cold winter with love.
This "Sharing Love Firewood" campaign collects byproducts from forest maintenance and produces firewood to provide free firewood to elderly living alone and socially vulnerable groups who are struggling with their daily lives, in order to spread a culture of sharing and caring at the end of the year.
One hundred households are selected among socially vulnerable groups such as elderly living alone, disabled people, and low-income families, as well as welfare facilities in the region. One ton of firewood per household, totaling 100 tons, is prepared in sizes suitable for direct use in traditional Korean stoves and wood boilers, and delivered directly to the respective households.
