Gangdong-gu Operates 3 Temporary Screening Clinics
Free Anonymous Testing for Everyone to Prevent Community Spread via Asymptomatic and Latent Infections... Testing Available with Simple Questionnaire at 3 Locations Including Seoul Amsadong Site
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) will operate temporary screening clinics where any resident can receive free anonymous testing to prevent the spread of COVID-19 until January 3 next year.
There are three locations: Seoul Amsa-dong Historic Site Parking Lot (875 Olympic-ro, Amsa-dong), Onjo Daewang Culture and Sports Center (285 Godeok-ro, Godeok-dong), and Haegong Sports and Culture Center (61 Cheonjung-ro 18-gil, Cheonho-dong).
The temporary screening clinics are operated to minimize community spread through asymptomatic and latent infections. Anyone who wishes to get tested can receive free anonymous testing regardless of COVID-19 suspected symptoms or epidemiological links. Only a mobile phone number to receive the test results is required.
Operating hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on weekends. However, these hours may change depending on future outbreak situations.
The test is based on the nasopharyngeal swab PCR method, known as the most accurate testing technique. It involves collecting specimens by inserting a swab or other testing equipment into the nasal cavity to determine confirmation.
In addition to testing, to ensure thorough operation of the clinics?including distancing between test subjects, proper mask wearing, temperature checks and survey reception, and health center handover measures for positive cases?each clinic is staffed with two medical personnel and administrative support staff including a manager-level officer.
The district office advised residents wishing to be tested to use the spacious Seoul Amsa-dong Historic Site Parking Lot, which offers convenient vehicle parking, and if they must use the other temporary screening clinics, to travel by public transportation or on foot as much as possible.
Also, since the Gangdong-gu Health Center screening clinic only tests those with confirmed cases or epidemiological links as before, anyone wishing to receive screening regardless of such links must visit the temporary screening clinics.
Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon of Gangdong-gu said, “The temporary screening clinics allow anyone to freely receive free and anonymous testing. We ask residents to actively participate in testing to block the spread of asymptomatic infections in the community through large-scale proactive testing.”
He also urged, “If there is a temporary crowding of test subjects, please follow the guidance of the staff to maintain safe distancing and proper mask wearing.”
