Seoul Metropolitan Council 30-Second Film Festival Grand Prize: 'The Special Miracle Found by the Village Community Support Ordinance'
Film Festival Held Under the Theme "A Council Protecting Citizens, Building Seoul Together"... 12 Winners Selected from 249 Entries... Grand Prize Awarded to "The Special Miracle Found by the Village Community Support Ordinance"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] The 2nd Seoul Metropolitan Council 30-Second Film Festival, co-hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Council (Chairman Kim In-ho), grandly concluded with an online awards ceremony at 5 p.m. on the 14th.
The 2nd Seoul Metropolitan Council 30-Second Film Festival was held under the theme "A Council Protecting Citizens, Building Seoul Together." Due to the spread of COVID-19, the awards ceremony was conducted online without face-to-face contact and was broadcast live on YouTube.
A total of 249 works (224 in the general category, 25 in the youth category) were submitted to this festival, with 12 works receiving awards.
Specifically, there was 1 Grand Prize, 2 Excellence Awards, 3 Merit Awards, 3 Encouragement Awards, and 3 Special Awards.
The honor of the Grand Prize went to "The Special Miracle Found by the Village Community Support Ordinance." This work depicted actual neighbors cultivating a community garden together through the village community, receiving praise for well capturing the role and meaning of the ordinance in making citizens' daily lives healthier and richer.
The general category Excellence Award winner, "I Am Also a Youth," brightly expressed the contents of the ordinance supporting out-of-school youth through animation, effectively reflecting the Seoul Metropolitan Council's efforts to support future generations.
The youth category Excellence Award winner, "Gaze," presented the contents of the ordinance preventing illegal filming by having a child read it as a fairy tale book, making a potentially difficult topic easy and gentle to understand.
Other award-winning works also addressed ordinances related to COVID-19 support, youth employment support, crisis household support, and although still pending approval, an ordinance supporting delivery workers, reflecting the various difficulties currently faced by our society.
Chairman Kim In-ho stated, "Among the many submissions, the winds of change that the Seoul Metropolitan Council sought to embody in ordinances were deeply and well expressed," adding, "I sincerely thank all the directors who participated in the film festival with deep interest in the Seoul Metropolitan Council's legislative activities and Seoul ordinances despite the difficulties posed by COVID-19."

He also said, "It was heartbreaking to see citizens' hardships reflected throughout the works," promising, "The Seoul Metropolitan Council will implement more proactive policies than ever to protect citizens' safety and health from COVID-19 and to restore citizens' daily lives as quickly as possible."
Chairman Kim further stated, "Next year marks the 30th anniversary of the revival of local councils, so we will prepare various promotional measures to enable more active communication between the Seoul Metropolitan Council and citizens."
