Gangnam-gu Wins Top Award at 2020 Korea Job Awards
High Praise for COVID-19 Recovery Job Policies and Youth Internships, Receives Vice Chairman Award from Presidential Job Committee
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jung Soon-gyun) received the highest score for its job policies to overcome COVID-19 and was awarded the Vice Chairman Award of the Presidential Committee on Jobs, the grand prize at the 'Korea Job Awards' on the 14th.
The '2020 Korea Job Awards' is an award given by the Presidential Committee on Jobs to local governments and public institutions that have implemented outstanding policies to create quality jobs. This year, a total of 122 organizations participated, and after the first document screening evaluating the distinctiveness, ripple effect, sustainability, and convergence of job policies, and the on-site evaluation of exhibition content at the 'Korea Job Expo,' 15 finalists were selected.
Gangnam-gu was recognized for operating customized job policies reflecting regional characteristics, including ▲ the 'Small and Medium Enterprise Youth Internship' which provides employment support funds of up to 1.2 million KRW per person upon hiring ▲ the establishment of the Gangnam Startup Center and discovery of startup activation policies ▲ discovery and fostering of social economy enterprises.
In particular, job policies to overcome COVID-19 such as ▲ hiring 500 people under the 'Gangnam-type Youth Part-time Job' ▲ increasing the monthly employment support fund for SMEs by 200,000 KRW and providing an additional 3 months of support received high scores.
