GIST Alumni Company Donates 20 Million Won Development Fund to Alma Mater
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) announced on the 15th that it recently received a total of 20 million KRW in development funds for GIST, with 10 million KRW each from CEO Lee Yong-gi of Seongil Livestock Farming Cooperative Corporation and CEO Lee Geun-shin of NH Networks Co., Ltd.
CEO Lee Yong-gi and CEO Lee Geun-shin are GIST alumni who completed the 7th class of the GIST Technology Management Academy (MBA) program and are leading regional professional managers creatively responding to technological change trends and internationalization paradigms.
Established in 2011, Seongil Livestock Farming Cooperative Corporation is an ICT-converged smart farm that modernized livestock facilities and continuously improves breeding pigs, a breed that produces many piglets.
Recognized for its excellence by consecutively obtaining eco-friendly livestock product and HACCP certifications in 2012 and 2013, then Jeonnam Governor Lee Nak-yeon visited the factory in 2017 to inspect the status of breed improvement.
Founded in 2001, NH Networks is a total solution company that provides everything from development, design, construction, and maintenance of CCTV video monitoring systems necessary for integrated disaster control for a safe society. Especially through independent technology development, it has achieved remarkable results in various ICT fields such as video enhancement, video analysis, and energy regeneration.
Through continuous R&D, it has acquired eight patents including a remote location tracking system and GS certification.
CEO Lee Yong-gi expressed his donation sentiment, saying, “Through the GIST Technology Management Academy course, I developed affection for GIST and a desire to give back by participating in nurturing talent, and I have finally put this into practice.”
CEO Lee Geun-shin said, “In the midst of global changes, the power of science is the driving force leading the world and the power of innovation,” adding, “I hope GIST will play the role of a scientific culture hub not only regionally but nationally.”
